If you need custom LDAR Tags to work with your LDAR program and asset management system, NB&T’s customizable tags can meet your needs. Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR) regulations were put into place by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) because of the amount of volatile organic compounds and volatile hazardous air pollutants being emitted by leaking equipment such as valves and pumps.

Tagging is an important component of any LDAR program because everything needs an ID. Every regulated component (valve/pump/connectors/compressors/etc.) must have a unique identification number, along with an identified location. An LDAR program is the system of procedures a facility uses to locate and repair leaking components. This minimizes the emission of fugitive volatile organic compounds and hazardous air pollutants. Asset management systems that utilize LDAR Tags can help monitor the lifecycles of these components, as well as help perform reliability studies on equipment. Knowing when equipment needs repair or replacing ahead of time reduces time and increases efficiency.

Laser Etched Brass Tags: Frosted vs Non-Frosted

National Band & Tag has a new laser machine that now allows us to successfully laser etch on brass tags. When placing your laser etched brass tag order, you now have the choice of a “frosted” surface. “Frosting” means removing the shine that brass has, to make it easier to read. The examples below on the left with a more yellow look are frosted, and the darker brown samples are regular brass. Brass is hard to take a picture of because of how shiny the material is. The shine will not work in certain environments, so for an additional charge, we can remove it for you. This allows you to have all the benefits of brass material, without the shine.

Valve Tags & Pipe Markers

Valve tags provide crucial information to your operations and maintenance staff about your piping and valve systems, ensuring their safety and the safe operation of your facility. In addition, valve tags are used to label pipes and valves to meet federal regulations and inspection requirements. We manufacture custom valve tags in a wide range of materials and sizes, so that your valves and pipes will be properly tagged with long-lasting identification.

Brass Valve Tags
Brass tags are rust and corrosion resistant and can be used for high heat, high wear applications. They are durable and provide clear identification for your pipes and valves. They can be stamped or laser etched.

Stainless Steel Valve Tags
Used for applications exposed to corrosive elements and high temperatures, stainless steel tags are durable and reliable tags. In addition, they are easy to clean and can be sanitized repeatedly, making them ideal for environments that use lots of chemicals. They can be stamped or laser etched.

Quick Ship Valve Tags
National Band & Tag offers a variety of valve tags, but some sizes and materials are kept in stock to get you fast with easy ordering through Amazon!

Custom laser etched valve tags can have numbering, words, or both.

Stamped valve tags are available in number sets 1-1000.

Rigging Gear Inspection Problems

In Wire Rope Exchange’s November/December 2018 issue, the article, “The 6 Most Common Problems Found During A Rigging Gear Inspection” by Mike Close talks about multiple ways that rigging inspections can shut down or delay production time for companies. The problems range from broken hardware, damaged slings, to broken wires, but the #1 most common problem with rigging equipment is missing or illegible identification tags. OSHA requires tags to show manufacturer information, work load limits (WLL), and the lifting capacities for different sling hitches and angels. For other certain types of rigging, even more tag requirements may be needed.

Once a tag is illegible or removed, the sling is no longer able to be used and must be removed from service. National Band & Tag provides heavy duty aluminum and stainless-steel tags for both wire ropes and chain slings. Our tags are stamped into the material, so they stand up longer in the grease, dirt, and abusive environment than non-metal tags.

If you are a wire rope or chain sling manufacturer receiving too many complaints about your company’s tags falling off or becoming illegible, give us a call for a free quote on custom stamped wire rope tags and chain sling tags.

Increase Your Barcode Readability: NEW “Frosted” Background for Stainless Steel Barcoded Tags

Looking for higher readability in your stainless steel barcoded tags? Our new laser machine allows us to create a “frosted” white background around the barcode that removes the shine from stainless steel, allowing for a higher contrast. Higher contrasting barcodes read better, easier, and faster! All stainless steel and plain aluminum tags that have a barcode with automatically get the frosted background. Frosting is also available around text and logos, or to create a blank square upon request.

These frosted barcoded stainless-steel tags are useful for industries such as food processing, medical, laboratory, chemical, textile, and petroleum. In harsh environments such as these, stainless steel is necessary because of its non-corrosive aspects. Stainless steel tags with frosted barcodes will continue to scan and read for years.

Check out these samples below of how current customers have used frosted backgrounds on their tags:

Label your Main Water, Hot Water, Gas Shut-Offs and More

Plumber Tags aren’t just for plumbers anymore! While these tags can be used by plumbing companies, and come stamped with their information on the tag, basic shut-off tags and blank tags are also available for those who want to identify shut-offs in their house, office, or rental properties.

In an emergency, such as when a pipe bursts in your home, being able to turn off your main water quickly can help control the amount of damage done to your home. Plumber Tags help make turning off the correct valve easier.

For new home owners, we offer a smaller variety pack, exclusively sold through Amazon. The small variety packs allow for labeling critical shut-off points in your house. Click the pictures below to view on Amazon.

Wet Tumble Your Stainless Steel Tags

We manufacture all our metal tags here in our factory, which means there are different tag finishes that we can provide for our customers.

For stainless steel tags, we like to recommend wet tumbling for a smooth finish. It is only an extra $15/1000 tags (Special Charge H) and it will remove any rough edges on your tag. This is an easy way to ensure that if your tag is dangling and someone grabs it, they will not harm themselves on a sharp edge. If your tag is going to be mounted, then you might not need the wet tumble finish. Polishing is recommend for any stainless steel tags that are going to be used as keychains or be handled often. Not sure which finish is right for you? Just request free samples of each finish here!

A Few of Our Favorite Tags

Do you have a favorite tag?

At NB&T, we have hundreds of styles of tags to choose from, so we asked some of employees, what is your favorite tag style and why?

Ryan (Global Accounts): Style 60 – “It was the first tag I ever sold, and I like the 60 versus the 61 because it has the dog stamped on it.”

60

Joe (VP Purchasing/Office, Treasurer): Style 1005-1 – “We manufacture hundreds of thousands of these each year. They are our most profitable style of tag, which is why they are my favorite!”

1005-1

Natasha (Sales Representative): Style 1242 – “Butt-End Bands are my favorite because they can be completely customized.  A lot of my repeat customers use them as business cards or promotional items. I enjoy working with them to find the best layout, size and color for their use.”

1242 collage

Aris (Bilingual Sales Representative): Style 890 – “The Zip is my favorite wing band because a lot of my customers like the style, colors and options available. I love recommending design options if they are unsure of what they want. My customers always end up happy with the final product.”
